   Architect
   César Martinell is both architect and art historian, whose work shows the influence of his mentor Antoni Gaudí. A member of the Barcelona School, Martinell displays great inventiveness in structural design and technique, as well as a creative interpretation of the aesthetic idiom of Modernism. Among his varied creations his industrial farm buildings occupy a special place in the development of architecture. Thirty winegrowing co-operatives in various parts of Catalonia are constructed in a quasi-ecclesiastical style: temples of industry, one might say. The skill of the engineer is complemented by great artistic interventiveness.
